Pat is a legal expert with more than 25 years of experience in legal compliance. Pat’s substantive areas of practice include intellectual property, licensing, contracts, employment, integrity of research and not-for-profit, international and corporate governance. Since 1997 Pat has worked as the Population Council's general counsel, and in 2006 she was appointed corporate secretary. Before joining the Population Council, Pat was in private practice and served as general counsel of the Risk and Insurance Management Society, Inc. She is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and an adjunct lecturer at the State University of New York at Purchase. She helped found and is chair of the board of directors of Solutions for Innovative Policies, Programs and Technologies, NPC, a non-governmental organization in Johannesburg, South Africa; a member of the board of directors of the African Population and Health Research Center in Nairobi, Kenya; and an advisor to the International Contraceptive Access Foundation in Turku, Finland.
Pat received her AB in public and international affairs from Princeton University and her Juris Doctor from Columbia University School of Law.
